Field Commission 

Commissioned as an Officer in the Regular Force, Sri Lanka Army in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant as per (Chapter 357), Para 9 (1) of Army Act by the HE the President, Junius Richard Jayawardene on 25 Jan 1981.

Description:

  1. Decorated Twice in 1988 and
  2. in 2008, The Rana Sura Padakkama (Sinhala: රණ ශූර පදක්කම, "Combat Excellence Medal") is a medal presented to members of all ranks of the Military of Sri Lanka for individual and/or associated acts of heroism in facing the enemy and performed of their own accord. The decoration is presented by the President of Sri Lanka. Recipients of the decoration are eligible to use the post-nominal letters RSP after the name. 
  3. The Desha Putra Sammanaya (Sinhala: දේශ පුත්ර සමිමානය, "Son of the Country Award") is a Sri Lankan military decoration, equivalent to United States "Purple Heart" that is awarded to those who are killed or wounded in combat. For injuries caused in battle.

Special Appointments, Appreciations & Commendations - Military

Achievement in Sports, Tribute to Champions, in recognition of untiring dedication, commitment and divine contribution in bringing honor to Sri Lanka Army through Sports - 2015.

Special commendation from Commander of the Army in appreciation of active involvement as a true warrior and showing exemplary conduct during humanitarian operations conducted to liberate Sri Lanka away from terrorism - 2010.

Awarded Regimental Colour's in 2006 for achievements displayed representing the Sri Lanka Signal Corps in Table Tennis, Cricket, Chess & Hockey in a career span of 34 years from 1985 to 2014. He was instrumental in winning several individual and team championships for Regimental/Army/Defense Services/National level in Table Tennis, Chess & Hockey. He was the Sri Lanka Army Triple Champion in Table Tennis in 1986 and just before his retirement in 2011, under his captaincy Sri Lanka Army Table Tennis Team bagged the Inter Club Veteran's Team Championships, for the first time in the history of Army Table Tennis at a national ranking tournament held in 2011 eventually it became the highest achievement to his credit playing along side with his fellow team members Maj Heshan Bulunuwewa of Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps & Staff Sergeant S. Cooray of Sri Lanka Signal Corps.

In appreciation for the Support extended during the period of 19 - 21 Sep 2006 of the USPACOM Pacific Endeavor - Principals Meeting, Hawaii, USA.

Appointment as Liaison Officer (LO) to Lieutenant General (retd) Ambaree Abdul Sattar, Minister of State for Defense and National Security during his official visit to Sri Lanka in February 2006.

Appointment as Liaison Officer (LO) to Minister of Defense, Ministry of Defense Nepal during his official visit to Sri Lanka in February 2003.

Appointment as Assistant Liaison Officer (ALO) to General Mongkon Amphornpisit, Supreme Commander, Kingdom of Thailand, during his official visit to Sri Lanka in February 1999.
